45x15sec on Omega Centauri

Azaiba, Muscat, Oman

Monochrome presentation because I got blurry colours from Omega Centauri being so low in the murky muck near my horizon (skyfog at Vis Lim Mag 1 !). Multi-colored skyfog too! Unmodded Canon 1Ds at ISO 1250. Here's a nice little challenge that I have yet to tackle. The core of the Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is bright enough to be visible by naked eye at a dark site. Let us assume it is at around Mag 5 to 6. Could well be possible to image the core with very short subs...

Truly awesome, Samir. I'd been thinking about short exposures myself, as a way to counteract light pollution and avoid having to buy a solid, heavy mount. I saw your articles on Cloudy Nights, and realized that you had already proven the technique. This is great: now I can buy a bigger scope with the money I had planned to spend on a mount that would be too heavy to take anywhere dark anyway. Thanks for your help!
