Tamron 14mm on Full 35mm Format DSLR

This is more or less as wide as it gets, short of using a fish-eye lens. The wider the lens, the fewer subjects suited to it. Double the focal length and the number of suitable subjects more than double; goes up exponentially. To view the largest version click on "original", below right.

Canon EOS 1Ds ,Tamron SP AF 14mm f/2.8
Unmodded camera. Single 5-minutes exposure at f4 and ISO 1250. Camera piggybacked on a Titan mount. full exif

Just a normal dslr with a wide lens ? How can that be ? Is it shot through a scope ?
