Meteor Crater (Canyon Diablo or Barringer Crater) is located between Flagstaff and Winslow, off i-40. 4000 ft wide , and 570 ft deep with a 150 ft rim of rocks. A meteor about 50 meters across composed of nickel-iron hit this Colorado Plateau at 28,000 mph about 50,000 years ago. See last image for a sample slice of Canyon Diablo meteorite.
