Here is the same screenshot, except the amount slider shows the effect of the darken operation,
where the halo is removed, or at least greatly diminished. On a full resolution version of the
image, this feathering will be even more helpful, I think.

Hit "OK" on the Composite Transform dialog, and you get the "final" image (next).
