Salak or Snake fruit

Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Fruit in the room.
Thought it was a decoration looking like snake skin but realised it was a nut or fruit off a tree.

Now that identified, is native to the Yogyakarta region & prized for its acidic yet sweet taste.

I don't quite agree with the taste description. I did taste one, not to my taste. I was expecting something like a rambutan. Other fruits were plentiful, especially mangoes.

Have to say most fruit, especially bananas, always taste so much better when fresh off a tree & not picked when green & artificially ripened in a storage facility.

other sizes: small medium large original auto
