Wheel Bug Nymph with Beetle
Arilus cristatus
The adult wheel bug is one of the largest terrestrial true bugs in North America reaching up to 1.5 inches in length.
The females are the larger of the sexes.
It has a large “beak” that it uses to stab its victims sucks out the bodily fluids of the victim. Apparently they will cause a painful bite to humans if handled. They are considered beneficial insects.
