Crazy Horse, South Dakota
The face of Crazy Horse is nine stories high. Crazy Horse was an Ogala Lakota warrior.
The sculpture was begun in 1948 and the sculptor, Korczak Ziolkowski, has since died.
Work on the memorial continues through private donations only as the request was made not to accept any monies from the government.
When completed Crazy Horse will be depicted on his horse and the entire carving will be 563 ft. tall, the largest mountain carving in the world.
Needless to say, it will not happen in my lifetime.
