Staffhurst Wood, Surrey: 12 May 2006

Today Nicky and I had a lovely wander through the woods in glorious sunshine.
It was a return visit for me, as I came last week to take pictures of the bluebells: https://pbase.com/romy_uk/bluebell_woods

Staffhurst is thought to have been wooded continually for at least a thousand years. This changed in the 1930s when the wood was clear-felled for timber. More recently it has been managed to try and bring back something of its former character and Staffhurst Wood is now designated a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
It is known for an abundance of bluebells each May.

Fabulous gallery, Rose, those bracken shots are superb. I think the lens on the Pro 1 is just brilliant, you just can't beat that camera! Vote from me!
