The Tagish Road connects Carcross on the Klondike highway in the Southern Lakes area of Yukon with the small community of Jake's Corner further North-East on the Alaska Highway. It is a narrow 2 lane road that winds its way through forests and numerous lakes, both large and small. It also crosses the Tagish River on a long bridge and offers many opportunities to spot some of the wildlife of the region.
I had a relatively easy ride on this road and managed a day trip of 142 km, going from Carcross to Mukluk Annie's Salmon Bake on the Alaska Highway. I was further delighted to come across an ice cream vendor in the tiny town of Tagish itself, right by the Tagish River bridge. He served me a massive Danish style waffle which he was convinced I couldn't finish, but I proved him wrong. I guess bicycling gives you a great appetite!
