Plaza de Colón (Columbus Square)
After visiting the Museo Arqueológico I went for a walk in the Plaza de Colón which is next to
the museum. In the plaza is a statue depicting the story of Columbus’s voyage to North
America. I took many photos of the statue because I liked the carving.

I came back to this area of Madrid at other times during my stay in Spain. The French Embassy
is near the Plaza de Colón.

A few weeks after I visited this plaza, a car bomb exploded in the parking garage under it. The
statue was not damaged.
