A nearly frozen Rio Grande River flows through an alpine valley
near Creede, Colorado. More famously known for dividing the state
of Texas and the United States from Mexico, the Rio Grande's
headwaters actually start at the base of Canby Mountain high in
the San Juan Mountains of south central Colorado. Flowing south
and then southeast through New Mexico it's water is used for
irrigation and only 20% of it reaches the Gulf of Mexico.
