Enid Central switch job

10th St., Enid, Oklahoma

I consider this to be one of my best railroad photographs. Sadly, the digitally scanned image does not do justice to the original Kodachrome slide.

Enid Central Railroad's Alco RS11 locomotive #343 (ex-Norfolk & Western #343) switching grain cars at Union Equity elevators "A" and "B". General Manager, Bill King, was working as switchman on this afternoon.

For a time following the collapse of the Rock Island, the short-lived Enid Central performed shunting work on ex-CRI&P trackage in Enid, as well as hauling local traffic to and from Ponca City.
