A Red Tailed Hawk scored a direct hit on a young rabbit in my (Ohio) backyard yesterday. One of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen up close. It was at least 24 - 26 inches high and had a mighty wing span. The coloring of this bird was magnificent cream with light tan streaks throughout the body. Simply beautiful. Then the show began. A small black bird made continual dives at the hawk. The black bird must have made 10-15 diving attacks against the hawk in a 4-5 minute period resulting in the hawk abandoning his kill - flew off and never to be seen again.
