I was driving by the Wetaskiwin Hospital and saw the Stars helicopter coming in... I made my way to get close and got more than I could ask for...I was able to talk to the pilots and learned a lot...The both said the job they do was really rewarding and couldn't think of anything better. One of the pilots I talked to got his training in the military.. and was in the middle east....They are monthly employed... I started to ask a few questions... how far can they go with the Helicopter and it was as far as Cold Lake NE of Edmonton... the fuel only last about two hours...I asked about their job and he said he had seen a lot. Some night he didn't sleep... Injured children were the hardest to deal with, so much emotion... At accident scenes picking up the pieces was not easy. Two pilots go on each flight with the medical people... I really got to see the human side to these pilots... Very well respected and had a very important job.. He said his job was easy compare to the Doctors and Nurses at the hospital when they arrived.. He spoke highly of them... I have the deepest respect for them and the job they have... If you have the time and can make a donation it is well worth it... It is put into good use...
