An antique, 19th Century or earlier (much earlier) tsakli painting in mineral pigments depicting, within a great moon-shaped orb of a nimbus, and within a green mandorla, a four-headed white bodied peaceful deity seatedupon his blood-red lotus throne. The deity, with a triple crown holding back his hair which is tied in a high chignon has a sweetly smiling principal face with downcast eyes as he sits in the posture of meditation his hands in shuni mudra (the gesture of patience and self-control) holding a golden dorje in his lap. He wears a saffron coloured dhoti, and a profusion of bodhisattva jewellery, with a green scarf swirling about him. This tsakli has been reinforced to the reverse side. 8.9 x 10.9cm
