My backyard this morning. We received about 1.5 inches (~4cm) of new light snow overnight. Fortunately we did not get the "lake effect" snows that other areas in the state received because of the wind direction. Areas SW of here received around 2 feet (61cm) of snow yesterday as a result of the winds blowing across Lake Erie. Areas on the eastern end of Lake Ontario received 44 inches (112cm) of snow yesterday as a result of winds blowing across Lake Ontario. Had the winds shifted more out of the north, we could have received a lot more snow here. By the way, those are not unusual amounts for those regions but it is early in the season to get that much snow.
Oh I almost forgot, the morning temperature was 9F (-13C).
