Japan

As any Portuguese enticed by the chronicles written be Wenceslau de Moraes, I always felt attracted to Japan and its culture.

We traveled there in 2014 and the country was even more intense and captivating then I could have ever imagined.

How the Japanese relate to nature and the spiritual plane, the night time hyper-electric atmosphere in major cities, their way of living and collective traits as a people (...both the endearing and the less pleasant ones...), the food,
the way they managed to depart from ancient traditions not by abandoning them but rather by further strengthening and crystallizing them through the incorporation of other, new behaviors...
...all this contributes to a permanent state of awe for any foreigner having a first contact with this far east country.

I hope some of the atmosphere and idiosyncrasies of beautiful Japan and their amazing people has managed to transpire into my photographic attempts.

I hope to return there in the near or distant future, as I have this feeling that a much, much deeper and meaningful photographic perspective may be accomplished once the initial powerful cultural-shock intensity subsides.
