20111106 - Drained

Typical - sunniest day since last month and I went out with a nearly-flat battery! The spare has been sat next to the charger for ages.
Cycled home through the best light in yonks with a sleepy camera :o/

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM
1/250s f/2.5 at 135.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

you and the camera certainly woke up for this one!

Been there, done that. But you could bet a dollar to a doughnut that your battery wouldn't have run down if you had had your spare with you. Maybe there's a lesson there, but I can't figure out what it is. :-)

Nice light through the leaves and I like the depth of your background. I find it difficult to get a shot into the woods like this - mine usually look chaotic. Yours is lovely.

:) Your camera and you did well before it nodded off.

Still managed a wonderful Autumn shot Phil :)

The camera might have been sleepy...but it certainly woke up for this!
Stunning.

Fabulous shot Phil.

Well at least you got the beautiful shot. Get a battery grip then you'll reduce the chances of a dead battery by 50%, or maybe take two camera bodies each with a grip, etc. :)
Sheila06-Nov-2011 22:54
Well, you got this stunning shot and probably learned your lesson :-)
lou_rozensteins06-Nov-2011 22:53
You'll have to rig up your bike to charge up batteries as you ride!!
This shot is worth it .... the light and composition are great.
laine06-Nov-2011 22:41
From what I'm seeing you couldn't get a better shot with a full battery anyway..V
Sheena Woodhead06-Nov-2011 21:54
This is a beautiful autumnal shot - I bet you were annoyed with yourself though :-)
Martin Lamoon06-Nov-2011 20:31
The light on the trees and the woodland floor help make this a wonderful scene, great DOF to. V
Doug Cruden06-Nov-2011 20:21
Despite your shoddy preparation and ill-preparedness, this is a cracker of a shot!! Quite breath-taking light there sir, and an almost 3D quality to the composition...you'd best leave home with a almost-flat battery more often if this is the result LOL!!
Mairéad06-Nov-2011 20:12
Still you got your golden shot. And at least you HAD a battery in your camera - last week I went out without one :(
MarcViskens06-Nov-2011 20:07

Stephanie06-Nov-2011 18:05
All it takes is one great shot and you got it! Love your pov & glorious lighting! :)
globalgadabout06-Nov-2011 18:03
super-charged shot though from the last spurt of energy...that is certainly a rich tranche of autumn glory, and a real lesson in composition...V
Faye White06-Nov-2011 18:03
Stunning autumnal scene!
Kevin Chester06-Nov-2011 18:00
Still worth it for the shot before it died on you
Johnny JAG06-Nov-2011 17:54
But you can't grumble when you've caught something this good.
