Focus Motors-Sensors 2796.jpg

Film Maxxum 7 on the left. Digital maxxum 7D on the right.

Motors at the top (left bottom of camera) drive the mirror mechanism and also energize the AF clutch for DMF.
Motors at the bottom (right bottom of camera) are AF motors which drive the focus gear train with a rubber belt.

The mechanisms are almost identical on both cameras, with minor accomidations for the extra room in the Digital body in this area.
Note difference in size of the AF modules.
