Wilson's Bird of Paradise is endemic to the island of Waigeo off the West coast of West Papua.
One has to be at the lek before dawn as the bird come to display (provided a female show up) and to keep clean quarter for his prospective mate.
Papua is hot, humid and mosquito ridden, but the rewards are absolutely worth it. What marvel of jewelry lies within that dark forest!
