Kalij Pheasant

I am not sure if these are Kalij or Silver Pheasants. Lophura lineata are their scientific names.
It was wonderful to observe the birds drinking water from a man made water hole as well as to feed on the grounds around the hole for half an hour.

There are different schools of thought as to the taxonomy of this particular species. If you want to call it Silver Pheasant you are more then welcome!

Hi Peter, excellent pictures, but I think it is a Silver Phaesant (Lophura lineata) and no Kalij (Lophura leucomelanos). The colours are different: Kalij has a white belly and is black on the back.
