Yellowstone 2007 Trip Notes

Yellowstone NP

Weird place Yellowstone, thermal/volcanic features are everywhere. Even when I tried to make oatmeal in a microwave, what came out had a cone with a small opening on the top and a steam coming out of it. It was a little oatmeal geyser.
Where else can you see a waterfall with boiling water?

This gallery contains pictures from our trip to Yellowstone during first week of August 2007. Not a good time to visit. Lots of visitors, full parking lots, road congestions, etc.
Still, we decided to go, it was our 20 anniversary present.
Our main goal was spotting some wildlife. Despite this being not so good period we got rewarded with
- bald eagles
- ospreys
- trumpeter swans
- 4 sightings of coyote
- 11 sightings of bear (1 black and 10 grizzly bears)
- 1 distant view of a wolf pack
- countless bison, elk and mule deer encounters.
What we have missed is a good view of a wolf pack, we have not seen any pronghorns or bighorn sheep.
We have not spotted many rodents, we have seen cute uinta squirrels but have failed to see river otters, muskrats, beavers, weasels, …. For many of these, this was simply not the best time of the year.

As in other galleries we are mixing landscapes with critters.
We came back with about 1000 pictures. It is obviously hard to decide on which pictures to present and since we wanted to show everything we have split the gallery into 2.
Part 1 shows Mammoth area formations, some birds, coyote, Lamar Valley views and some of the numerous lakes of the region.
Part 2 has uinta squires, bison, Yellowstone woods, bears and Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

PL: Yellowstone, co za miejsce, probowalem ugotowac platki owsiane w kuchence mikrofalowej. Resultat wygladal jak miniaturowy gejzer: dymiacy stozek z wglebieniem na szczycie. Gejzery, bulgoczace kolorowe kotly, wodospad z gotujaca sie woda…

Galeria upamietnia nasza podroz do Yellowstone w sierpniu 2007.
- orly
- rybolowy
- labedzie trabiace (uwielbiam Polskie nazwy ornitologiczne)
- kojoty
- 11 niedzwiedzi (1 czarny, reszta to grizzly).
- dalekie stado wilkow

Ciezko bylo wybrac zdjecia do tej galleri. Wroclismy z okolo 1000-cem zdjec. Podzielilismy zjecia na 2 czesci:
Czesc 1 pokazuje przedziwne termalne formacje z okolic Mammoth Springs, troche ptakow, kojoty, widoki Doliny Lamar i kilka wybranych jezior.
Czesc 2 ma uinta wiewiorki, bizony, lasy, niedzwiedzie i widoki z Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
