About a mile west of Stratford-Upon-Avon, in the small town of Shottery, sits the childhood home of Anne Hathaway, wife of William Shakespeare. The house is known for its thatched roof, a form of roofing consisting of dried vegetation and straw. Called the Anne Hathaway Cottage, it is in fact a 12-room farm house that once sat on 90+ acres of farmland.
