Hi ottokalata:

A friend of mine sent me a link to your Carnaval photos. I think there's a lot of really nice shots in there. I was shooting that day as well, and there's a big difference between your images and mine. I wonder if you have a moment to help me figure out why?

Your images are very colorful, and mine are really flat. I'm shooting a D100, and I see that you're shooting a D1, but it's hard for me to believe that would make such a difference. Did you do color corrections to these images before you posted them? Were you using a filter when you shot, and what did you have your white balance set to? I think my problem lies in one of these areas, but do you have any other idea why your images are so much more colorful than mine?

I've posted one of my shots which is similar to yours here:

Yours is here:

I really appreciate any advice you can give me. You can email me at robprideaux@robprideauxphotography.com Thanks a lot.

Nice shots. I have a D100 and my CP5000 went to my wife. Her shots are at worldpicscity and mine at cvengr here on pbase. Just curious,...I don't want to overexpose my shots and the default D100 values tend to underexpose for most monitor viewings, but they seem to print well onto glossy paper from Epson inks on a 785EPX. Additionally, I notice different outputs from Ulead PhotoImpact to Microsoft's Photo Editor, to Photoshop or QImage Pro.

Have you found a good way to normalize or calibrate your shots direct from the camera for archival or display purposes to pbase? or are you dumping directly as well? problem isn't as prolific with the CP5000, but the great shots I make from the D100 with a Sigma 20mm at f1.8 seem dark when presented on the web. If one gamma fcn's the shot on the web by about 1.37, that's about what it appears in a hard copy dump from Epson on glossy photo paper.

Wow, awesome set of galleries. Enjoyed skimmiing through all of them. It's good to see another SanFrancisco photographer in here who doesn't take the generic shots. Thanks for the comments in my gallery. And once again, Keep up the good work. -Jordan

Thanks for posting response that batteries are not compatible for d1 and d100. Very disappointing, but now I can complete my order!
