The Spirit Of Roanoke Island is a replica of the type of sailing shad boats used in the waters around Roanoke Island in the late 1800's for pound fishing. The Spirit Of Roanoke Island was completed in 2000 by volunteers of the North Carolina Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island and can often be found anchored in Manteo Harbor. It is a fully functional sailing craft and is sailed on a regular basis. Here are a few images I shot after being invited to sail aboard The Spirit Of Roanoke Island. Some of the images were shot from another boat which allowed me to take images of The Spirit Of Roanoke Island as she sailed.
