In a world premiere at the 2022 Porsche Parade, Porsche unveiled its latest “unobtainium,” the 2023 911 Carrera GTS America. Held at the Kalahari Resort in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, the Porsche Club of America's 66th annual convention was also the occasion for the in-the-metal introduction to U.S. enthusiasts of two other elusive Porsche models: the virtually unobtainable 2023 911 Sport Classic and the hard-to-get 2023 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

Only 115 units of the Azure Blue Carrera GTS America will be built -- 100 for the U.S. and 15 for Canada. As usual, the demand for this special edition will far exceed the supply, so only a small fraction of Porsche VIPs will have any chance of getting one.

Scheduled for delivery later this year, the 2023 Porsche 911 GTS America starts at $186,370 in the U.S. It commemorates the 70th anniversary of the 356 America Roadster, of which only 16 examples were made. The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic, starting at $272,300 in the U.S., is based on the all-wheel-drive and PDK-only 911 Turbo S, but comes with rear-wheel-drive and is equipped with a manual transmission. The 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, shown here in Arctic Grey, was the centerpiece of the convention center lobby. Car & Driver says this long-awaited car ditches the Cayman Complex. It notes that the Cayman “has long been overshadowed by the 911 to keep the brand’s hierarchy in check.” But with the new GT4 RS, it adds, “Porsche has finally installed the 911 GT3’s engine in the 718 and created the best sendoff to internal combustion we’ve seen yet.”

In its testing, Car and Driver found the top 718 Cayman “as quick as the previous 911 GT3 RS and only 0.1 second off the new GT3." The magazine says the car “reached 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, quicker than any non-Turbo or GT 911, and hit the quarter mile in 11.0 seconds at 126 mph." Also exhibited at the 2022 Porsche Parade was the 911 Classic Club Coupe in Sport Grey Metallic, a one-of-a-kind transformation by Porsche Classic of a used 1998 Type 996 Carrera. The effort to reimagine, redesign and totally rebuild this car for the Porsche Club of America took two and a half years.
