The annual Porsche-Only Swap Meet in Hershey regularly attracts more than 6,000 Porsche enthusiasts, about a thousand Porsches, and nearly 650 vendors with countless merchandise. That was not the case on April 20, 2019. The day started with inclement weather, so the turnout was way down -- half the expected attendees, about a third of the usual concours participants and about a quarter of the vendors. But by mid- and late-morning, the weather improved to fair and partly sunny.

There were three "car shows" to delight everyone -- the spectator parking lot with hundreds of Porsches, the car corral with hundreds of other Porsches for sale, and the People's Choice Concours with a diminished number of contenders.

Held annually by the Central Pennsylvania Region of the Porsche Club of America, this year's event was still a success despite the uncooperative weather. PCA members and other Porsche enthusiasts had a field day. About three dozen PCA members from the Chesapeake Region drove together to Hershey in a caravan of about two dozen cars from New Freedom, PA -- about a mile north of the Maryland line. Several others went there directly on their own.

Though most of the attendees were from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states, there were PCA members and cars from all over the country and Canada, as well as enthusiasts from overseas.
