Many people who visit Maryland’s Eastern Shore often associate it with highways that tend to be straight, boring and congested with traffic. So our driving tour on Sept. 15, 2019, gave a good number of participants a pleasant surprise when we reached the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Not only were the roads there curvy and scenic, but they were also nearly empty – we had them practically to ourselves. All the participants said they enjoyed the drive.

For this delightful jaunt, we had our guest tour masters to thank – Hank and Ellen L. The tour was their idea; they selected the roads, designed the route and chose our lunch destination in Saint Michaels.

The positive feedback from everyone extended to our lunch and its venue – the Miles River Yacht Club, of which Hank and Ellen are members. Everyone who expressed an opinion said that they found the food delicious, and that the service they received was efficient, pleasant and quick.

For the record, 52 people in 27 cars registered for the tour. On the day of the event, 47 people in 25 cars showed up. My fellow Tour & Rally Co-Chair Randy M. and I divided the cars into three groups. Hank and Ellen led the first group, Myrna and I led the second group, James and Anna B. led the third group. Randy and Michelle served as the tour's overall sweepers.

We particularly thank Bruce Wakefield, director of CPR Classic East. He provided not only the Easton parking lot where we all gathered and started the tour, he also kindly opened the doors of his business on a Sunday morning. He then offered coffee and pastries, as well as guided tours of his restoration shop, which specializes in vintage Porsches.

We also thank Gary and Rebecca B. and Ron F. for serving as group sweepers, as well as Gordon E. for helping with the distribution of the green ID tags during the signing of the PCA waiver forms. Finally, we thank Eve S. and Ron F. for submitting some of the photos they had taken during the tour. I am including one photo from each in this gallery.
