Often, the best time to photograph the automobiles at a concours is after the show. However, 80 to 90 percent of them are usually driven away by their owners or tenders as soon as the event is concluded. Still, I like to stick around for another hour or so to shoot the remaining cars -- with the crowds gone, the barriers down and the sunlight near its best.

This set is the last in my series of 11 galleries on the 2009 Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance, which was held on Aug. 2 in Rochester, Michigan. More than 200 cars and motorcycles were entered in 25 classes by collectors from all over the United States and Canada.
