Confusion exists over names here. The species as named here has 4 records on CATE2. Under its other name, Hypochnicium erikssonii there are 102 records, so still not common. According to most texts H. erikssonii has much larger spores than H. sphaerosporum whose spores are very small and subglobose. If the spore size has no importance, then it probably is Hypochnicium erikssonii.
