Uncommon medium-large Agaricus in broad-leaf or coniferous woods, here with pines on sandy soil. Caps smooth, somewhat scaly at margins, whitish, slowly yellowing with age/handling; ring pendulous with cogwheel pattern or scales below. Gills pallid, then greyish pink, finally dark brown. Smell faint or strong of bitter almonds. Cheilocystidia are clavate or balloon-shaped, often papillate (with small 'teat') at the apices. 1st Notts record.
