This event had heard of our successes organizing a June Rendezvous in Watch Hill & Block Island RI and a September Rendezvous in New London CT and Greenport NY. In February 2008, a request and invitation was extended by Sail Martha's Vineyard to the Commodore of North East Nonsuch Fleets, to have our boats participate in the Vineyard Cup Seafaring Festival weekend.

We had hoped to get 9 or10 boats and felt that would be a great success for the first go round.

The organizers agreed that the Vineyard Rendezvous would to be an integral part of the Vineyard Cup and Seafaring Festival. The latter being held to help fund raise in support of the youth sailing programs of Sail Martha's Vineyard . . . http://vineyard.plumtv.com/videos/vineyard_cup_2007

Entry Fee was $75 per boat which included two days of sailing. Bracelets for 3 days of parties, entertainment, open bars, and food are $25 per crew member ($20 for kids). Shared moorings were only $40 per boat per night.

BLISS 30C , NAMASTE 30U , and SEA HERO 33 which will attend the Newport 2008 Rendezvous the previous week, plan to sail with the favorable tides from Newport on Saturday morning to join in the first day's sailing, which starts at 1400 hrs


The response from the Buzzards, Cape, & Islands Fleet and others was absolutely fabulous !

Of the 30 Buzzards, Cape & Islands Fleet boats . . . 23 (!) committed to participate or responded with enthusiasm for next year ! This enthusiasm amongst these boat crews was FANTASTIC despite there not having been a Nonsuch event anywhere in this region since 1987 in Padanaram (& Newport RI) . . . TWO DECADES AGO !
