This species lives in sunny areas with vegetation, forest edges, rocky areas, dry or slightly wet countries. It feeds on large insects and larvae, spiders, earth worms, but also bird eggs, very small rodents and fruits.

This lizard may size 20 to 30 cm, sometimes until 40 cm.
