Thanks Everett, for your kind words. The heron had been hanging around a marina on Seneca Lake in New York where we were fishing. I took a couple of shots of it sitting on a dock, and then it flew into the water, grabbed the fish and took off. I just happened to be ready (and lucky). By the way....I've seen some fantastic photo galleries of birds in Central Park. Get out there and start shootin'!!!

Now this is really a great photo! I enjoyed looking at this shot while trying to figure out how you pulled it off. The only thing I could come up with is, you were in the right place at the right time. I looked at your other wildlife photos and they are truly awesome. Looking at your photos is a real inspiration; it rekindled my love for photography. Unfortunately I do not own digital equipment as my budget doesn't allow for it at this time. I'll have to stick with my film SLR's. Trying to get my films developed is a real hassle these days. Now all I need is a zoom telephoto and I'm set. I envy you because you live in a rural area with lots of beautiful forests; you should'nt have to do a lot of traveling. I live in New York City, a place not exactly abundant with wildlife...just wild people.
