The Aqueduct, Segovia

Segovia, Spain

The Aqueduct of Segovia, located in the Plaza del Azoguejo, is arguably the most important element of this historic city. Its construction was carried out at the end of the 1st century or early 2nd century, and it is the most important example of Roman civil engineering work in Spain. The structure makes use of around 25,000 granite blocks which are held together without any mortar! It has a length of 818 meters, consists of more than 170 arches, and measures 29 meters from the ground to its top at its highest.
