I just bought a D80 please share your expertise on the settings for such vibrant colors... I have the Tamron 18-200m lens your photos are great I really feel I made a great choice in purchse after looking at your shots

Hi, Beautiful and inspirational shots. I just bought a D80 last week (first DSLR). Any chance of a brief outline of your workflow? The cobbled streets with details in the shadows are great. Are you underexposing with the camera then using levels in PS. We get quite harsh light in NZ and I'm getting too many blown out highlights in my first few hundred shots. Cheers Pete

Thanks, Lou. My personal preference is for sharp shots with vibrant colours, so I'm quite happy with the way these look. The sharpening and saturation is more a deliberate product of Photoshop that it is the D80. I know it's not everybody's taste, but it is mine. Thanks again. Best regards, Chris

It would be preferable to remove some sharpening and also desaturate the colours a bit. This can be changed in the menu of the camera. I made a series of shots with the D80 and found the jpeg's too much contrated and with screaming colours. This gives them a typical "digital" feeling. One might like this or not, that's another question. I will se what the basic RAW's will bring from that camera in the next days. What I like on that camera is the very low noise from the shutter. Here the D200 is somewhatr more noisy.
