I also just noticed that you make wonderful use of a wideangle perspective, while I used a very long telephoto lens to make a similar point (textures) about the same peak. (http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/103633072 )
The foreground is wonderfully textured -- a perspective on Mt. Shasta we seldom see in photographs. The plants seem to be fighting for survival, and the earth is riddled with what looks like tiny incongruous footprints.
