We were kind of taken aback at the commercial aspects of Split. I describe it as ancient Rome meets the Atlantic City boardwalk. There were markets and stands selling everything from soup to nuts.

So we took a city bus ride to a small town to the north, Trogir. It sits partially on a small island and has medieval-era streets of its own.
