The Dardenelles is the name of the strait between the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Marmara, and the Bosphorus is the strait between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. Istanbul (then Constantinople), where the "A" is located, is at the confluence of the Sea of Marmara and the Bosphorus.
