This is a nice graphic composition but I can never quite stop myself from going on...
This could be a metaphor for him being drawn between two loves. The visible, or outside, version is drawn closer to one love (the pole on the right that he's standing closer to) but there's an inner version of himself, or a hidden, or suppressed, version, that is drawn to another love, the left pole.
And yet neither one is touching either love. He's between them both and not committed to either.
Too much? Probably.
