The beginning...

Gland - Vaud (Switzerland)

I would like to personally thank (and perhaps I will do it privately, since you are certainly not very numerous) all the visitors who have kept me company regularly during this journey, made of images and words that has ferried us all through the last days of this year, now running out, up to the threshold of this new January, now so close.

Years are time conventions, they are a set of moments, they are many things.
The years are the texture that holds together the fabric of time, intertwined with seasons and events.

I could tell you that in the coming year everything will be different, that there will be twice Christmas and light all year round.
I could tell you, but for what purpose? Illusions don't help that much and make the inevitable awakenings only more disappointing.
What are you saying? Am I unnecessarily pessimistic?

I humbly allow myself to disagree.

One of the few and therefore sublime precious freedoms that are granted to us is the ability to know how to continue to ask ourselves questions, without letting us suggest them.

I see a source of healthy optimism in continuing to think using our heads and, above all, taking responsibility for ourselves.

In addition to the ability to ask questions to others, but above all to ourselves, it seems to me important to exercise kindness, as a method for dealing with and resolving conflicts, and courage, as an essential civil virtue and an instrument of change.

I dwelt and, at this point, either you fell asleep staring at this useless web page, or you quickly fled elsewhere, relegating me to oblivion with a click.
But as the only justification I can say that, having finished my simple project of posting a photo a day in this gallery which started on December 1st, I will be absent from PBase for a time whose duration I still cannot evaluate.
A break, to devote myself to other things and not get imprisoned in something repetitive.

Anyone who wants to contact me for various reasons can always find a way, either through my website or by email. I will always be pleased.

I enjoyed composing a graphic image, for the end of this gallery, using bits of my photos.

A path awaits us to walk.
As with any journey, it is not the final destination that matters most, but the journey itself.
Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.

I am a bit late commenting on this, though I saw the image earlier. Your profound words accompany this door opening to the new year, and a new beginning and who knows what else. VVV

An excellent composition with a clear story and potential outcome many of us hold dear. Beautiful sentiments, as well. Have a pleasant break. V

And I had just found you, with your photography and personal comments, and now you will disappear...
I hope that you will find your own path with a proper goal at the end. Maybe a Swedish detective can help you find the way ;-)
Best of luck on your tour! Ciao!

We all need to evaluate what we need out of our short lives. Although 2020 has changed many of our lives and altered plans to travel or maybe just go for a walk.

We miss our morning walks and sitting outside with a coffee and cake, the fear with so many not taking precautions as advised.

Hopefully we can overcome the virus and return to some normality. I found last year difficult and at times lost interest in publishing on PBase, however seeing so many PBasers taking time to allow us to see their photograph's keeps me going realising all around the world we all are seeing our lives changing

Hope to see you back soon

Happy New Year Marisa:

I read to the end and it is sad that you will be away. But like every time I leave my daughter and grandchildren, I look forward to seeing you again.

All the best in 2021.

Cheers,

David
