This photo is the second one of a little series of four pictures
which documents a bit surrealistic urban story.

We were walking over Rue Saint-Antoine toward La Bastille,
in total peace of mind with the world and ourselves after the very enjoyable lunch.
Rue Saint-Antoine, for the few people who don’t know Paris, is not an especially fashionable or smart street; it’s a popular, commercial street, quite easy going with many intriguing and appealing food-shops, but nothing luxurious in any special way.

Suddenly on the sidewalk, by the corner of a rather banal bistro, an incongruous couple appeared.
Two Asiatic young people, probably Chinese, wearing their formal wedding clothes walked slowly, zigzagging among the greasy paper and the cigarette ends on the sidewalk as if they were on a red carpet.
With them there was a very thin and short young lady carrying the bride’s bouquet.
People stared at them, since nobody could imagine what they were doing there and where they intended to go, early in the afternoon of a common day of May.

I asked them with gestures if they wanted to allow me to take some photos and they seemed enthusiastic and tried to follow my direction to pose in a very serious way.
The bridesmaid with the bouquet nodded happily and spoke to me in a totally incomprehensible idiom.

Two workers, sitting at the bistro terrace played involuntarily the role of the wedding guests with a bit of amazement, but benevolent cooperation.

The bride and the groom looked happy, she had perfect lace gloves, but the hem of her wedding gown was dragging Rue Saint-Antoine common people’s litter….
