Approaching the Mazarin Quarter in a cool morning....

Aix-en-Provence (France)

This grid pattern quarter was conceived in the XVIIth century by archbishop Mazarin,
brother of the Cardinal.
A truly luxury "housing estate" for parliament members and the bourgeoisie of the period,
it is organised around two principal axes: Rue Cardinale and Rue du 4 Septembre.
