Along with others, I am writing a paper on bats and their viruses for the scientific journal "Microbe", which is the newsletter of the American Society for Microbiology, and which has wide distribution. May I obtain permission to reprint this remarkable photo of a Black flying fox (Pteropus alecto) in our paper? This is not for commercial use.

une photo époustouflante, la transparence accenture les détails des ailes, c'est génial.

What an amazingly beautiful depiction of a bat in flight! ...not only in flight, but in broad daylight! This capture is unique and so very interesting, as you have allowed the viewer to actually see the wing structure of this dynamic creature. Marc, you deserve an award for this image!

Fantastic shot! How creepy is that thing? Their wing span can be a meter... I think if one of these swooped over head I'd be too busy trying not to lose a load than snapping a photo. Great job!
Jeanne Dammarell07-Feb-2008 21:45
Excellent capture! I really like the light coming through the membrane of the wings.
