Let's Go

Another warm sunny day with a cloudless sky. Took Fudge for a walk in Rockmarshall Woods high above Dundalk Bay. It's a popular place for walkers as there are good paths through the forest. Locals are opposed to plans to site a windfarm there with huge wind turbines as they fear it will spoil this scenic area and people living close by are worried about possible risks to health.

Lovely light and shadow on Fudge.
Windfarms will always be a big debate, they should not be put up in places like in this IMHO.

I agree with Carl about the wind turbines and the shot! A wonderful place for a walk!V!

Looks like a great place for a walk!

that's a real 'come hither' look..a vexing question wind farms...relatively clean energy on the one hand, yet still with some environmental impact...perhaps a warning system to scare off birds might mitigate that one problem..and finding a remote location might take care of the aesthetic issues..rather wind than coal or nuclear..

Very sweet, lovely shot.

Yup you're holding Fudge up by stopping for a shot :-)

You can see he loves his walks - such a happy boy eh!
Neal Nye25-Jul-2011 11:21
There he is, leading the way! I bet he slept well after this.

A wonderful sunny shot, with nice shadow play, Fudge is ready to go! V

Nice to see Fudge inviting us for a walk. I think the wind turbines are being drive by capitalism, like most else. Hurry and build them while the idea is hot! It seems to me that solar would be a much smarter clean energy source.

Great pic of Fudge. He is certainly excited to be on the go! Windfarms are ugly. Not safe for birds at all... Larose Forest is right. But for humans, the danger is mostly the big ugly blight on the view.

Great shot, love Fudge's body language! Wind turbines - great when its blowing otherwise useless off-the-shelf quick fix green solution.

Fudge looks particularly happy to be out on the trail! Beautiful shot! As for the wind turbines, they are a controversy here too, in part due to concerns about health, but also, because of impacts on birds, particularly during migration when millions fly south at night. They have also been shown to kill bats too (and we are losing bat populations dramatically). A real conundrum.

Even though Fudge is turned back to you, his body language is saying "up the path!". As a result the whole shot leads into the frame. I can understand the concern of the locals. (Less about health issues - I agree with Johnny JAG on that one unless you happen to be a sparrow who flies right into the turbines.) But once they go up, a place never looks the same (or, arguably, as good) again. Lake George near Canberra is one example that I can think of. But on the other hand we need clean power, so... I'd be getting in some shots before the farm goes up if I were you.

Nothing beats a sunny walk with a happy dog! Great capture. V

You're not keeping up, obviously :o)

Lovely happy fudge.
I suspect the "risk to health" is overhyped, on the other hand I am dubious about the effectiveness of wind turbines. There must be more efficient solutions out there!

Its an all to common debate, and it splits communities in two. Nice to see young Fudge enjoying his walk

What a glorious place to go for a walk! No wonder Fudge is smiling :o)
