Faughart Ruin

The morning started bright and sunny. In fact it started too early as Toffee released Fudge from
the kitchen and I awoke to hear a dog whimpering outside our bedroom door. Getting up to
attend to the delighted pup, who thought the usual morning routine of breakfast and a walk
was about to get under way, I noticed a beautiful pink hue to the sky. I was very tempted to
set off and take some pics but I reckoned that my the time I'd have got dressed, had my breakfast
and driven somewhere scenic, the magic hour would have passed. So I went back to bed.
Met a friend for coffee in the Flower Market at a more civilised hour and then drove to the
old graveyard at Faughart. On the way I passed this ruined house. I don't know the story
behind it but it was obviously a fine building at one stage.
By mid-afternoon the sky had clouded over and it started to rain.

Provides an interesting effect of perception; you're looking out from the shadows, into the lit area, the eye leads up to the house and yet... the house is an illusion of what it once was.

Beautifully composed with gorgeous light and shadow. Love the greenery growing over this old house. Did Fudge go back to sleep? :)

Fabulous light and what a great find for photographs - Can you get access? It looks as if it was very grand at sometime.

Marvelous shot. What a fine old house, now draped in green. I wonder what the story is with it? Did you take Fudge with you :-)
