The Understudy

This wasn't meant to be my photo of the day. In fact I'm lucky that I have a photo of the day at all. My intended photo was of a rather sinister looking toadstool which has appeared underneath the lilac bush in the back garden. But perhaps because I was hunkered down trying to get a view of said toadstool, the images were decidedly blurry when I uploaded them to the computer. So here is the only other shot I took today - one of the last of the summer bedding plants making a late display in the warm September weather.

Nikon D90
1/1250s f/5.6 at 300.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

Good texture, good detail, good colour balance... sometimes the understudy can outshine the primary performer anyway.

Lovely soft pale colours set against the rich green of the background - a wonderful colour contrast Mairead, nicely done!

A beautiful petunia Mairead...I am dreading the frost as that will be the end of the flower display for this year...BV

Knowing they'll soon be gone makes them all the more attractive. What a lovely thing.

We are both shooting flowers st opposite ends of the earth it seems. Yours are going. Ours are still coming. Nice soft treatment of this pretty blossom.
