Sagbar (Davor Spasoski)

his picture was taken on a cloudy August afternoon. My approach here was reactive. I noticed the girl's eyes and asked the little Gypsy for portrait under the available light. The relatively bright background matched well with the girls bright shirt and made a very good contrast with the girl's dark face and her large hypnotising eyes. Your attention is immediately on girl's eyes, and even her dark arm contrasting with her shirt does not distract you from that. Arm's diagonal position kind of leads the observer from the periphery to the girl's face. I deliberately positioned my camera a bit higher than the girl's face in order to emphasize her eyewbrows and her almond shaped eyes.
This picture was originally taken on color film, but it was converted to b&w with Photoshop's channel mixer. I believe the b&w version is more striking and eliminates the distraction from the color.
