Chainsaw

Well I never had a chainsaw before. But I've got one now.
A big (15" diameter) limb fell in the backyard. I figured
out what the tree removal places would charge, and then thought
"I've never had a chainsaw before" Didn't know if I should get a
gas one, or an electric, but settled for the electric. It's got plenty
of power and sawed up the limb. My grandfather was a real lumberjack in
Northern Wisconsin, before they had power saws, when he first came to the
States from Norway. I bet he'd have given anything at times for a chainsaw,
since the trees they felled, they did with a 2 man bow saw. Certain tools
make a person think of how things used to be...like this one.

Congrats (belatedly) on the purchase. An electric chainsaw will be less headaches and more reliable. They do tend to leave interesting edges on the torn flesh in accidents though...

Times have changed and I admire your Grandfather as he must have lead an exciting and dangerous life back then.
I hope he can give you lots of tips as this can be just as dangerous.
I really like your shot and what a huge limb that was.
