After Optimus bought out Primus Stoves in 1964, they marketed the same stove under both names to sell to hikers and climber loyal to the Primus Stove ( Which Sir Edmund Hillary used in 1953 on Everest.
My mom has the Optimus R8 and her doesn't have a wrench, but a key to adjust the fuel. She said it isn't suppose to shoot flames from the bottom. You can give it a minute to warm up. As it gets warmer the pressure builds, you also have a fuel adjustment on the side of the burner. The wrench is for fuel adjustment and to refill the gas tank.
If you want a picture I have one I just need an Email address.

I just found one of these, Iit came with fuel in it, and when I light it, flames shoot out the bottom of the burner, not just the top...is this normal? can I just give it a few mins to warm up?
Also, when i refuel it how do i build up the pressure or do i even need to?
Also, what is the wrench for?
